‘Me, We, Our World’ – making global connections for IIEW2013

‘Me, We, Our World’ was the theme for this year’s Integrated Education Week, which was also the first International Integrated Education Week.

We are delighted that so many schools joined us in our celebrations.

The launch was held at Ballycastle Integrated Primary School on Friday 1st March, followed by the Dunleath Lecture 6th March at Queen’s University. Final celebrations were held on Thursday 7th March at the Long Gallery Stormont.

Children and young people shared their experiences of how they have been reaching out to other countries and embracing cultural diversity. Throughout the week, schools posted messages of support and pictures of their IIEW events on Facebook and twitter, thus sharing their learning experiences locally and globally. Tweets have been sent to the hashtag #IIEW2013 showing support and encouragement for integrated education from pupils, parents, teachers and other organisations.

Many thanks to those involved for making #IIEW2013 such a resounding success.

A delegation from NICIE also visited Macedonia for an international conference on 9th and 10th March.
