Cranmore IPS New Pre-school Building Officially Opened

Governors, staff and pupils were joined by a host of special visitors to mark the occasion of the official opening of our new preschool accommodation.

The ceremony was performed by Mr Daniel Lawton, US Consul General and Mr Trevor Ringland MBE. Visitors also included Junior Ministers Emma Pengelley and Jennifer McCann representing the Office of First and Deputy First Ministers.

The school choir performed and several pupils shared their poems about their days in preschool.

The new purpose built accommodation has been possible through the generous support of Mr Kevin Curley, American Ireland Funds, the Integrated Education and Fund and also £100,000 was raised over two decades by the school.

At the assembly Mr Doherty, Principal noted,

“In the current time of budget cuts and austerity measures I cannot think of any other school which has managed to build what we have done. We are delighted to be able to provide a preschool education in a building which has been built to the standard required by the Department of Education for nursery schools.”

Guests had an opportunity to visit the preschool and see at first-hand the work of staff in promoting confidence and providing learning experiences for our youngest children in the context of true integration.

Mr Doherty thanked all of those who have supported Cranmore IPS including staff from NICIE, the IEF, parents and governors.
