Parkhall Integrated College goes to China

Mrs McIver, Modern Languages teacher and integrated education co-ordinator at Parkahll Integrated College spent the Halloween break in China visiting the school’s new international partner school, Haishu Foreign Languages school.  As part of a British Council and Chinese Education Bureau funded programme,  Mrs McIver had the opportunity, along with ten other UK teachers and principals,  to spend a week meeting education delegates, observing lessons and teaching English in the Chinese school.  She had a warm welcome and learnt a great deal from the teachers and school’s management.  She taught some lessons and shared good practice from the N.I. curriculum. This programme is designed to encourage and form links between the UK and Chinese school’s so we can learn from each other and begin subject specific projects, teacher and pupil exchanges and cultural learning.  Parkhall Integrated College has previously formed links with schools in other countries and is very excited about this new opportunity to expand the pupils’ learning in citizenship, education for mutual understanding and personal development which is of great importance in this integrated school
