IEM 2018

We are delighted that Integrated Education Month will be launched in Oakgrove Integrated College on 1 March 2018 at the ‘Back to School Roadshow’ which is the Integrated AlumNI’s flagship event!

The ‘Everybody Outstanding’ theme for Integrated Education Month 2018 resonates strongly with the experience of the team of past pupils from integrated schools who will go ‘back to school’ to run interactive workshops with current Oakgrove pupils. Their aim will be to raise confidence and aspiration by sharing experiences of life after school through their personal stories of Higher Education, Further Education and working or moving away from home. They feel so passionately about Integrated Education that they wish to encourage and support the next generation of Integrated Alumni and have a huge amount of fun in the process!  Several other ‘back to school’ events will be hosted in other integrated post primary schools over 1st & 2nd March.

The participation of all 65 integrated schools in Integrated Education Month is enthusiastically encouraged by the NICIE Teachers Committee who have designed 5 challenges which embrace the ‘Everybody Outstanding’ theme.  The Teachers Committee have developed a set of guidance notes and are encouraging the sharing of ideas and activities via social media.  Details can be accessed here.

NICIE will also be running a series of activities during Integrated Education Month which are open to all schools and interested individuals.  The 7th March is a key date as two events will take place on that day.   The first event in Crumlin Road Gaol, from 10am – 2.30pm, is a conversation about transformation to integrated status which will be open to principals, teaching staff, governors, parents and the wider community who wish to find out more about the transformation process.  That night, from 7pm, members of the public are invited to the annual Dunleath lecture in Riddell Hall, which will focus on a vision for Integrated Education in the 21stcentury.

We look forward to your participation in Integrated Education Month 2018 and to your outstanding contribution towards making it a resounding success!
