IC Dungannon Welcomes Special Visitor

The College were delighted to welcome Her Majesty the Queen’s Lord Lieutenant for County Tyrone, Mr Robert Scott.  Mr Scott, along with his wife, Marie Christine, were greeted on arrival by College Principal, Mr Sleeth and Deputy Head Boy, Jack Liggett, who had served Mr Scott as a cadet sergeant until March of this year.

The Lord Lieutenant showed great interest in several college projects including Project SCool – the provision of heat to the College by Greiner Packaging; the Gold, Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, EAL provision, Prince’s Trust and the IFA Elite Performance Programme, to name a few.

After a tour of the College, the guests met with Head Students and Student Representatives of the Board of Governors.

Speaking after his visit, the Lord Lieutenant said, “Marie Christine and I came away deeply impressed with everything that we saw.  The College is clearly thinking and developing the talents of some amazing young people, providing them with firm foundations from which they will build their lives.”
