We are very sad to announce the passing of our dear friend and pioneering parent, Margaret Kennedy. Margaret was an extremely proud member of All Children Together, the very first parent group, who worked to establish Integrated Education in Northern Ireland by opening Lagan College, Belfast in 1981. Margaret never lost her passion for Integrated Education and continued to work to support parents who wanted to have their children educated together in one school. Margaret was actively involved with NICIE and the Integrated Education Fund and was always a very welcome guest at many of our events and debates, as well as serving as a Director of NICIE. We will miss Margaret very much and extend our deepest sympathies to her much loved husband, John and her children Caroline and Sean. We are thankful to have had the opportunity of knowing and working closely with Margaret over the years. We celebrate all that Margaret has helped us to achieve and pay tribute to her for taking those first very brave steps which were the beginning of our journey of educating our children together in one school. Lagan College opened with 28 pupils in 1981, today there are 65 integrated schools with over 24,000 children being educated together annually. We will carry the torch forward, Margaret. Rest in peace, dear friend.
