1. NICIE was established in 1987 to co-ordinate efforts to develop the provision of integrated education in Northern Ireland and to assist parent groups in opening new integrated schools.
2. We are a registered charity in receipt of core funding from the Department of Education but drawing money from other donors as well.
3. NICIE employ 18 staff working in varying roles. However only 12.5 staff are funded by the Department of Education. The other staff are on temporary contracts for a two or three year project and are funded by external organisations or charitable bodies. There are seven key areas of work:

4. NICIE Board of Directors: The NICIE Board of Directors has 16 members and meets every month. They are responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation.

Noreen Campbell, the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for strategic planning, policy, raising finance and liaising with key stakeholders in the public, private and voluntary sector.

Development Team:
1. The Development Officers work closely with parent steering groups seeking integrated provision for their children in their local area and also with schools wishing to transform to integrated status.
2. They support existing schools through:
* Telephone advice service
* Board of Governor training
* Organising staff training days and seminars
* Induction day for teachers new to integration
* Participation in recruitment panels
* Distribution of information
* Co-ordination of Staff Care services
* Representation on education committees and forums.

1. The Community Relations Officer’s main role is to raise awareness of the importance of good community relations within a school environment.
2. The officer organises community relations training days and seminars for staff and Boards of Governors.
3. Parent steering groups are provided with guidance on good relations policies for new schools.
