International Integrated Education Week 2013
International Integrated Education Week will take place from 4 to 10 March, 2013.
This is an annual event where integrated schools have the opportunity to celebrate their integrated ethos. This year, the event will have an international flavour.
The theme for this year’s Integrated Education Week is ‘Me, We, Our World’ and children and young people will be sharing their experiences of how they have been reaching out to other countries across the world and embracing cultural diversity. For the first time integrated week will be celebrated in schools around the world.
This international dimension grew out of last year’s inaugural Integrated Peace Education Conference, which was held in Belfast in March 2012. Teachers from Israel, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia and Cyprus gathered together to consider the model of integrated education in Northern Ireland and to discuss their experiences and challenges in developing integrated education in their own regions.
Each integrated school will be celebrating integration in their own school. In addition, key events will include:
- Friday 1st March: the launch of International Integrated Education Week at Ballycastle Integrated Primary School, Key Road, Ballycastle, at 10.30 am. The guest speaker will be Patrick McGrath of i-Teach.
