´Get Up´ on 24th February 2008
by NICIE
Strangford Integrated College, Carrowdore, has produced a music video under the guidance and direction of Californian musician, Elizabeth Pendleton. The video, called ‘Get Up’, can be viewed on the popular music website, iTunes. To achieve a chart topper, we ask that as many people as possible download the video on Sunday 24th February. It costs £1.89 to download and 70% of the proceeds will be donated to NICIE.
The music video is an optimistic take on Northern Ireland’s transformation from war to peace. The title song was written and performed by Elizabeth for her Celtic music project entitled Awakening Queen Maebh. The students act out scenes from the Troubles, peace process and attainment of peace. Modern landmarks such as Andy Scott’s Ring of Thanksgiving, John Kindness’ Big Fish and archival photographs by Eamon MeLaugh are also featured.
It is hoped the video will achieve increased publicity in Northern Ireland and America on the run up to St Patrick’s Day. In addition to helping raise the profile of Integrated Education to a wider audience.
Deborah Girvan, NICIE Communications Manager said, “This has been a very interesting project, especially for the students of Strangford Integrated College who had such a valuable learning experience in producing the video. We are indebted to Elizabeth Pendleton for her generosity and commitment to Integrated Education and we would appeal to all our friends in the Integrated Education movement to stand by their computers on Sunday 24th February and download ‘Get Up’.”
To download the video, simply visit www.itunes.com. Follow the step by step instructions. You can search by the title ‘Get up’ or Awakening Queen Maebh. It is also possible to download the video and send as a gift. Again, instructions for this are available on the iTunes website.
So don’t delay! Pass this information on to all your friends and family. Ask them to download ‘Get Up’ on Sunday 24th February!
