The Fivemiletown school took part in range of activities between Monday 2nd March and Friday 6th March to mark the seven day NICIE event and explore the theme of “It’s a small world”.
As well as trying out an interesting menu, donated by a local Co-operative store, the children also learnt about Fairtrade food.
They explored the Co-op’s educational website and learnt how buying Fairtrade products in this country can help support some of the poorest people in the world.
On top of this, the pupils took part in some specially arranged art activities, including making a model of a child from a different country.
Children in Primary One and Primary Two also enjoyed stories and circle-time activities, which encouraged them to consider how we are all different but can still be friends together.
Finally, the pupils were treated to the telling of some Irish Myths and Legends and each class was given a country to study. Primaries One and Two found out about France, whilst Primaries three, four and five looked further West to Germany.
