UNICEF recieves support from Integrated College Dungannon students
03/04/2009
Caring students from Integrated College Dungannon recently raised hundreds of pounds for the international charity UNICEF by holding their annual non-uniform day.
The school’s Students’ Council even organised a special assembly to tell staff and students about the plight of people living in Papua New Guinea and encourage them to support UNICEF’s important work in the Oceanic country.
This year an impressive grand total of £685.36 was collected from the non-uniform day, all of which will be used to help improve the health and well-being of Papua New Guinean children.
UNICEF (The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) is the world’s leading organisation campaigning for children and their rights, operating in more than 150 countries across the world, including Papua New Guinea.
By working with local communities, partners and governments, UNICEF aims to provide young people with health care, nutrition and education and help every child reach their full potential
Yvonne Beggs, Head of the Students’ Council said: “Over the years we have raised a substantial amount towards helping others and students enjoy getting out of uniform for a day. I would like to thank all the students for participating in non-uniform day and their parents for sponsoring them.”
