Pupils were sponsored to come to class on Thursday 2nd April with their flowing locks done up in weird and wonderful styles. Some students got into the spirit of things by putting on vibrantly coloured wigs, while others had their own hair cut or brightly dyed.
Even the Braidside staff threw themselves into the day with gusto, joining in by wearing equally ridiculous hairstyles.
The unusual but fun event was a great success and the considerable amount of money collected through it will now go to help the Special Care Baby Unit at Antrim Hospital, supporting a very worthy cause.
Principal Bert Scott explained: “We decided to make a donation to the baby unit because some of Braidside’s staff and parents have made use of it over the years and are very grateful for the excellent care it gave to their children.
“We all feel it is important to put something back into the community whenever we have a chance and I’m very proud of all the pupils who eagerly took part in our silly hair day.”
