Enrol Now for Anti-Bias in Education Training Course - March 2010
10/02/2010

ABC Training Course to run again in March 2010.

Over the past two years, NICIE has facilitated and delivered a very successful programme in Anti-Bias in Education Training, accredited by the Open College Network at Level 3. Following very positive evaluations from those participants we now will be offering this programme again in March 2010.  The programme again will be fully funded and teacher/ staff cover cost will be provided for the training.

The training will take place on Tuesday, 16th March, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th March, with accommodation provided on the night of the 25th. The training is experiential and aims to:

  • outline the principles and rationale of anti-bias theory and practice.
  • focus on the role of challenging bias.
  • help teachers gain an understanding of how to embed anti-bias practice in the school environment and encourage others to do the same.

and is linked to the manual ABC: Promoting and Anti-Bias Approach to Education in Northern Ireland.

As this is fully funded we can accept a maximum of 25 participants on the programme, with a maximum of 2 teachers from each school.  The programme is suitable for teachers at Nursery, Primary and College level in Integrated Schools, and will also provide opportunity for sharing of good practice.  There already is a waiting list from last year for the programme so I would encourage you to contact NICIE soon as possible if  you would like to participate.

If you would like more information on this couse, please contact Paula McIlwaine at NICIE. Closing date for applications is Wednesday 17th February 2010.
