Achieving Through Integration, Inclusion and Diversity (Aiid) is an exciting partnership between us and the Belfast Education and Library Board. It brings together 10 primary and nursery schools from the integrated, controlled and Catholic maintained sectors to share good practice in integration, inclusion and promoting diversity.
The project encourages participants to recognise and embrace their school’s diversity in terms of ethnicity, culture, religion, social background, ability, gender and sexual orientation. Each school and nursery conducts a self-evaluation of their school’s diversity and inclusion to:
- review their practice; and
- measure how included and involved each child feels.
They then exchange ideas and good practice and create action plans for improving these aspects of school life. We at NICIE provide bespoke training and support, if requested.
