“It is believed that the old school at Trench Lane started as a ‘hedge school’. This means that children came and gathered at the edge with a teacher and learned simple counting and reading. This would have been over 300 years ago. During the 1800’s a school building was built. The old school Is still standing today in Tenche Lane! In the early 1930’s a grant of £3000 was used to build a new schools at Mallusk. It opened its doors on 2 of April 1936”.
And this is a photo of the school children today.
